The three were convicted of charges related to supplying Iranians with confidential information about Yemen's political, war and economic systems, warships which arrived in Aden, Saada war and elections held in the country in 2003.They handed the information through CDs and phone memory cards, and received in return for the information large sums from the Iranian embassy in Sana'a.In October last year, Abdul Karim Ali Abdul Karim and Hani Ahmed Din Mohammed were sentenced to death after being convicted of spying for Iran. Iskander Abdullah Yousuf, the third member of the ring, was cleared of the charges brought against the cell due to lack of evidence.The two convicted then said would appeal the verdict which they said was politically-motivated.The police arrested the three people in Aden in October 11, 2008, and accused them of sending information, documents and pictures disclosing secrets about Yemeni defense in addition to reports on the political and economic situation in the country.The same court sentenced on March 29 a Yemeni national to death over “contacting the Israeli Mossad and offering services.In February 16, 2008, the court also sentenced a Yemeni military officer and a Saudi of Yemeni origin to death over spying for Egypt
