Giving children issues more attention, as recommended in the second conference of "protecting children from violence" held in Sana'a on June 18-20, the Ministry of Social
Affairs and Labor and the Supreme Council of Motherhood and Childhood launched on the conference's conclusion day, the first "National Coalition For Child Rights Care" website.
The website www.yngoc.org is the first Yemeni online source to tackle children issues. It contains the final copies of reports on Yemen's commitment to children rights conventions presented by the Yemeni government to the United Nations, in addition to shadow
reports on children rights written by Yemeni non-governmental organizations.
The website also offers copies of the applicable laws in Yemen and international conventions related to children such as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. It also involves information and database about civil society organizations in Yemen, especially those working in field of childhood.
The National Coalition For Child Rights Care will be interested in coordinating the activities of 40 Yemeni NGOs which have concerns
about children issues in Yemen.
The website staff is planning to publish a bulleting on developments of children issues. It is also working along with Save the Children Sweden organization, which sponsored the website launch, to achieve the second stage of it that will include an English version as well
as some improvements.
Save the Children Sweden work focuses on children's rights, and tackles issues that affect marginalised children. The core of the work focuses on children affected by conflict, education, discrimination, abuse, exploitation, and HIV/AIDS.
