The Deputy Governor of Hadramawt for Coastal and Plateau Districts, Mr. Hassan Salem Al-Jilani, met today in Mukalla with the Hadrami traveler Salem Al-Duqail to review his project aimed at reviving historical caravan routes in Hadramawt Governorate and promoting interest in cultural and civilizational heritage.
During the meeting, Deputy Governor Al-Jilani listened to Al-Duqail's explanation of his recent trip to several Gulf countries and its achievements in promoting Hadrami heritage. He also learned about the idea of conducting an exploratory journey by camel caravan, retracing the historical trade caravan routes for which Hadramawt was famous. The journey would begin at Ghayl Bin Yamin, one of the historical gateways through which ancient trade caravans passed, and proceed to the city of Ash-Shihr before returning via several historical routes. Deputy Governor Al-Jilani expressed his delight at this unique initiative, praising the passion of traveler Salem Al-Duqail and his interest in reviving history and heritage. He emphasized that the local authority pays great attention to preserving heritage and culture, and will be keen to support and assist initiatives aimed at preserving the Hadrami identity and introducing its historical and cultural heritage.
