Presidential Leadership Council Member and Governor of Hadramaut, Mr. Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, met today with the Regional Director of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) for the Middle East and North Africa, Mr. Jeffrey England, and the Institute's Resident Director in Yemen, Ms. Kenza Aqartit.

During the meeting, Mr. Al-Khanbashi provided a comprehensive briefing outlining the general situation in Yemen, particularly in Hadramawt. He highlighted the challenges and opportunities available in various sectors, praising the NDI's impactful interventions in Hadramawt and their role in supporting development and capacity building. He also invited the NDI representatives to visit the governorate to gain firsthand insight into its needs and significant potential.

The two sides discussed, during the meeting which aimed to identify the governorate's priorities, ways to enhance the role of youth and women in society, the importance of their active participation in public life, and their potential to contribute to creating an environment conducive to comprehensive political dialogue, within the framework of efforts to reach a sustainable political solution to the Yemeni crisis. The meeting emphasized the pivotal role of Hadramawt in the overall political process in Yemen, recognizing its significant contribution to the national equation, and the necessity for any future political settlement to reflect its expected role and rightful place.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, Director of the Office of the Presidential Leadership Council Member and Governor of Hadramaut, and Mr. Obaid Waked, Director of the Media and Public Relations .
