Ramadan evening blended the spirit of brotherhood with the aroma of authentic Yemeni coffee at UNTEN University in Malaysia. Sponsored by our embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the event was organized by the community, the Student Union, and the Yemeni Refugee Association in Malaysia, with the support of businessmen. More than 2,000 members of the Yemeni community in Malaysia attended the event in the UNTEN Hall.
In his speech during the ceremony, His Excellency the Yemeni Ambassador and Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps in Malaysia, Dr. Adel Bahumid, congratulated the community on the advent of the holy month, praising this occasion as a reflection of the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity among the Yemeni people in Malaysia.
The ambassador emphasized that this group iftar represents a symbolic message from the Yemeni community in Malaysia to their families in Yemen, stating that despite their exile, they will remain united and committed to their identity until their homeland returns to its former glory. He also praised the role of the Yemeni community in Malaysia, with all its components, describing it as a source of pride for their country, reflecting its commitment to Malaysian laws and representing an honorable image of Yemen abroad.
The ambassador called on members of the community to maintain unity, solidarity, and cooperation among themselves, emphasizing the importance of education as the key to their children's future. He emphasized the need to support educational activities that contribute to building more aware and future-ready generations.
For his part, the head of the Yemeni community in Malaysia, Engineer Marwan Al-Mabrouk, emphasized that this group iftar embodies the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity among members of the Yemeni community abroad, emphasizing that hearts, despite their exile, remain attached to their homeland.
He pointed out that the role of Yemeni expatriates is not limited to their presence abroad; they bear a national responsibility to be a voice for Yemen's unity and stability. Al-Mabrouk also praised the efforts of the Yemeni Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, under the patronage of Ambassador Dr. Adel Bahumid, stressing that it was a key partner in the success of the event and in supporting the community's affairs.
The community leader also thanked all the sponsors and supporters who contributed to organizing the iftar, emphasizing that such gatherings strengthen social ties and affirm the unity of Yemenis abroad.
Al-Mabrouk pointed out that this large Ramadan iftar coincides with the closing ceremony of Yemeni Coffee Day, emphasizing that Yemeni coffee is an integral part of Yemeni identity and history.
The Yemeni table was fully present, as attendees gathered around traditional Yemeni dishes. Yemeni coffee played a role in this scene, complementing the image of Yemeni heritage in this special Ramadan evening, which combined social and cultural dimensions.
