The Chairman and members of the National Committee to Investigate Allegations of Human Rights Violations held a meeting today, Monday, with His Excellency the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Mohsen Al-Daari, at the ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Aden, as part of the program of meetings that the committee is conducting with a number of official bodies concerned with protecting human rights.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Defense praised the great work carried out by the National Commission of Inquiry in protecting human rights in Yemen and the great level it has reached in accomplishing its tasks, and the interest of the Ministry and its affiliated military institutions in cooperating with the members of the Commission and its field teams.
Judge Al-Muflhi reviewed a number of the results of the visit and the committee’s visits to a number of governorates and the most important observations related to the protection of human rights and the role of the army and the military sector in protecting them, especially in light of the continuation of the war in a number of governorates and the humanitarian situation of the population in contact areas close to military operations and guarantees of access.
Aid and protection of civilians.
During the meeting, the members of the committee discussed a number of files that the committee is investigating and activating the role of internal accountability by the Ministry of Defense, in addition to responding to the committee’s inquiries and inquiries directed to the military services in Ma’rib, Aden, Lahj, Taiz, and Hodeidah, and guarantees of the protection and safety of civilians and freedom of movement in particular.
With the process of partially opening a number of roads, providing the necessary needs for the army to carry out its humanitarian and legal missions.
The meeting was attended by committee members Judge Hussein Al-Mashdali, Judge Nasser Al-Awadali, Judge Muhammad Talian, Judge Ishraq Al-Maqtari, Judge Jihad Abdul-Rasoul, and Major General Abdul-Hakim Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Minister of Defense.
