Prime Minister Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik reiterated that the Houthi militia, with Iran behind it, does not believe in peace and has never committed to any agreements, the latest of which was the Stockholm Agreement, which it even exploited to escalate its actions threatening the security of international navigation and abuse civilians.

The Prime Minister, upon receiving the Swedish Special Envoy to Yemen Peter Semneby today, also pointed to the international failure to ensure the implementation of the agreement and hold the Houthi militia responsible for non-compliance with the pact which was an important step towards reaching a lasting peace. He stressed the need for the international community to exert more pressure on the Houthi militia and the Iranian regime to stop their attack, escalation, and repeated targeting of civilians and displaced persons, and to deal positively with the international calls for peace.

The meeting discussed the latest political developments, the humanitarian situation and international efforts to reach peace in Yemen.

The Prime Minister was briefed by the Swedish envoy on the results of his regional meetings, and the Swedish supportive and keen role in bringing peace to Yemen.
