http://www.english.hadhramaut.info GTZ organizes workshop on Shibam's infrastructure [The Source: sabanews.net - 10/06/2009] The German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) organized here on Wednesday a workshop for assessing infrastructure project of the historical city of Shibam in Hadramout governorate. The workshop attended by Hadramout governor Salem al-Khanbashi comes within the city preservation as it is one of the world heritage cities. In the workshop, the GTZ's team reviewed the project's components including the city preservation and evaluating local elements of the project funded by Social Fund for Development (SFD) which includes repairing the city's mud buildings and training the cadres in this field to preserve its architecture . The German team affirmed that the idea of the experimental section has come out in good results through which they can mainstream the experience. The team also reviewed the human elements and the social and economic development in the city as significant components in the project . For his part, al-Khanbashi valued the efforts of the German team in assessing the infrastructure project, hoping to expand the cooperation with the German organization in other fields . The governor noted the historical importance of Terim city and choosing it as the Capital of Islamic Culture for 2010
