Dr Abu Bakr al-Qirbi renewed on Monday his country’s demand from American authorities for handing over the Yemeni detainees in Guantanamo. The minister said, “Our stand is clear and we have declared it, i.e. we want handing our citizens over to the Yemeni government and not to any other state. As much as that it is our concern that our citizens come out of Guantanamo camp because their stay there resulted in the suicide of one of them. We are looking for all ways with which we will bring them back out of that prison.”He has made it clear that the subject of American intention to transfer prisoners out of Guantanamo does not include the Yemeni prisoners only. On the other hand, in an interview published by the Middle East newspaper on Monday, Dr al-Qirbi affirmed he would submit the subject of the Yemeni labour to meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council GCC states foreign ministers in which he would participate on Monday. He said Yemen would present to the meeting suggestions in this regard and that must be referred to meeting of the ministers of social affairs and labour council that includes the GCC states and Yemen. On the date of Yemen’s joining the GCC the minister said there was no definite date but would be determined by the political will of the GCC states leaderships “but our focus at present is on he topic of enhancing of partnership , incorporation of the Yemeni economy and qualifying it into the GCC economies
