http://www.english.hadhramaut.info Locusts spread in Alabr district of Hadramout [The Source: /www.sabanews.ne - 10/05/2009] Alabr district of Hadramout governorate has witnessed spreading a huge number of locusts.  Director of the agriculture and irrigation Amr Karama said that the locusts are now in area at 41,128 hectare in the region based on a field survey done by the national center of control and observation of desert locusts last April. Karama called on concerned bodies to intervene to face wives of locust to avoid any damages might be hit agriculture products in the region and neighboring governorates. Director of the plant s production department at the ministry of agriculture Abdullah al-Siani said that the center monitored waves of locusts last April in the region, adding that the center is facing financial obstacle to send field teams.He asked the ministry of finance to give orders to pay sums allocated to carry out the field survey of combating locusts.
