Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has signed a contract to
rehabilitate a school in Yemen’s Hadhramaut Governorate.
The project, which will be conducted in conjunction with
Shakhmar Contracting Company, will involve the refurbishment of Shabaat School
in Daw’an District.
Under the terms of the deal, the premises will be ready to
welcome pupils in 40 days’ time, according to UAE state news agency, WAM.
Commenting on the contract, Ahmed Al Neyadi, ERC’s deputy
head in Yemen, said: “The agreement is part of the ERC’s assistance for
infrastructure and education projects in the governorate, and falls within the
UAE’s humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people during
the current difficult time.
“The school building will be revamped and equipped with
facilities, so as to make it ready to welcome students in 40 days,” he added.
The agreement was welcomed by Mohamed Al Zaini, director of
Daw’an District’s education directorate, who expressed his gratitude to ERC for
supporting the education sectors of Yemen’s liberated governorates.
