The Emirates Red Crescent announced on Monday that it would undertake
the treatment of 90 Yemenis who were wounded during the Houthi
violations in several Indian hospitals.
The announcement followed the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, which have been followed up by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and the Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC).
The task will be executed under the supervision and management of VPS Healthcare. The authority will also undertake the costs of those accompanying the injured to ensure their physical and mental wellbeing, as part of the emotional and moral support programme provided by the ERC for the cases it undertakes for treatment.
This comes as part of the continuous support provided by the UAE to its brethren in Yemen to ease their suffering and stand by their side during the difficult circumstances they are facing.
The ERC will provide the means to transport the wounded to the certified hospitals immediately by co-ordinating with the Yemeni government according to a programme prepared in this regard.
Realising the medical inadequacies and manpower shortage in the health sector in Yemen, the ERC undertook the treatment of these cases as a continuation of the UAE’s role in supporting the Yemeni people.
The humanitarian and health conditions in Yemen have reached disastrous levels because of the militias’ stubbornness in preventing the arrival of rescue and medical aids to different areas in Yemen, which has resulted in increasing the suffering of the Yemeni people. The UAE continues to provide rescue and development aids which, since the beginning of the crisis, have provided more than two billion dollars to ease the suffering of the people in Yemen.
Previously, the ERC undertook the treatment of many wounded Yemenis and sent medical and rescue caravans to its brethren in Yemen, while offering all kinds of development support and rescue to the Yemeni people.
