http://www.english.hadhramaut.info Technical committee to examine the needs of Socotra archipelago [The Source: Socotra/hadhramaut.info/sabanews.net - 18/04/2009] A meeting held today in the island of Socotra, headed by Minister of Water and Environment Engineer Abdul Rahman Fadl Al- Iryani, discussed issues regarding the mechanisms of supply and management in the archipelago of Socotra , and its needs for different services. The meeting was attended by   members of the local council, Hidibo District, directors of the offices of    Ministries and  the proposed administrative function of the archipelago. .on the recommendations of the President of the Republic during his recent visit to the island. The Minister of Water and Environment indicated, already that a higher committee was formed after the visit of President of the Republic, headed by Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs, Defense and Minister of Local Administration, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi  its aim is  to   prepare studies and put development proposals to be submitted to the President of the Republic on the needs of the archipelago.. He said   after  that  a team of  technical committee was formed  for the  purpose of preparing  the  studies and to  develop  proposals. It was. headed by the Minister of Water and Environment to prepare a general background to the problems of Socotra and the means to solve them and then  to be forwarded   to the Supreme Committee and the  Supreme Committee in turn  will forwarded to the President of the Republic to take the appropriate decision. He also pointed out that the presence of the committee on the island currently designed to hear the views of the people of the island and prepare a field study.
