http://www.english.hadhramaut.info Yemen's higher education experience presented in Rabat [The Source: RABAT\Hadhramaut\Saba - Saturday -20/Dec./2014] Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mohammad al-Mutahar has presented Yemen's experience on higher education to attendants of the Islamic Conference's Seventh Round for Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Commenced Thursday here under the motto of " Higher Education; Governance, Creativeness and Operation," the conference discusses a number of topics like Sciences and Creativeness' Atlas in Islamic World and Guiding Document Project to build knowledge economies in the country members of the Islamic Education, Sciences and Culture Organization (ISESCO).

In a speech he delivered in the conference, Minister al-Mutahar talked about prime indicators of higher education.

He said that there are 348257 students enrolled in higher education institutions and there are 53 institutions; 10 government universities, six under construction and 43 private universities, colleges and academies.

The Yemeni Government has made 2015 as the year for education and approved requirements, mechanisms and means guarantying implementation, said al-Mutahar.

He talked about future duties of the ministry which include improving policies and strategies of higher education as well as higher education's governance and enhancing the ministry and universities' institutional capacity to achieve competence and quality. The policies and strategies also boost honesty, transparency and accountability

He confirmed Yemen's keenness on realizing equal opportunities for male and female students in rural and urban areas to attend higher education institutions taking into consideration people of special needs.

Commenced Thursday here under the motto of " Higher Education; Governance, Creativeness and Operation," the conference discusses a number of topics like Sciences and Creativeness' Atlas in Islamic World and Guiding Document Project to build knowledge economies in a state members of the Islamic Education, Sciences and Culture Organization (ISESCO).

The conference will also discuss the ISESCO Director' report on the organization efforts in field of higher education and scientific research as well as technology for the conference's sixth and seventh rounds.
