Yemen participates in the (BIT) Tourism Fair activities started at Italian
trade and economic city Milan on Thursday, 19th February. Among 36,000 companies, hotels, restaurants and tourist bodies representing 152 Arab and foreign countries participating in the Fair, Yemen is represented by a wing included nine national tourist agencies and Yemen airlines company (Yemenia). After taking part in the official inauguration of the fair, Minister of Tourism, chairman of Tourist Promotion Board and head of Yemeni delegation Nabil al-Faqih paid visits to a number of participating wings. Al-Faqih also met with the Marketing Director of the Italian company "Ditto Trains" manufacturer of traditional trains and vehicles being used in historical cities. The meeting discussed possibility of establishing a project of traditional vehicles in Yemeni historical cities as Sana'a and Aden. The two sides have agreed on studying the project by a technical team from the company in accordance with the nature and characteristics of Sana'a and Aden. Meanwhile, the Yemeni wing has witnessed several activities including folklore dances and traditional handicrafts. Yemen has expanded its representing offices in Public Relations companies in a number of European and Asian tourist markets. Currently, Yemen participates in about 12 tourist companies at the regional, regional and international levels.
