In a speech he delivered in the ceremony of inaugurating a workshop for improving secondary education and girls' education on Saturday, Hadi affirmed necessity that the project has to achieve all its aims for building human being. He pointed out making education sector successful needs integrating all efforts and cooperation of donors. He thanked development's partners who participate in improving basic and secondary education. He indicated that the aim of the project is reaching public secondary education characterized by justice and equality in providing education opportunities with higher quality. For his part, Minister of Education Abdul-Salam al-Jawfi reviewed the ministry's achievements since starting implementing the national strategy for basic education in October 2003. The strategy is supplied by the government and donors. "10,000 teachers have been qualified. 5,000 schools have been built and 67,000 new teachers have been employed besides distributing 600,000 chairs, 1400 laboratories and thousands of bags and educational requirements," said al-Jawfi. 450,000 female students across the country have benefited from the World Food Program, he added. 2, 3 million basic education students have been benefited for from the strategy. He pointed out that the project targets, in its first phase, 90 schools in 30 districts distributed on nine governorates. The project would be expanded during the future t to include 330 districts. For his part, Head of the project's team in the ministry Mansour Muqbil pointed out that the ministry began two years ago rational corrections. He said the project aims at improving equality, filling educational gab between the two sexes besides improving education and providing suitable environment to such education. Meanwhile, director of the World Bank in Sana'a reviewed relations between the organization and Yemen since 25 years in education field. He asserted donors' readiness for providing more aids to the projects for realizing its aims.
