3 % rise in donors' pledges for Yemen

The Executive Bureau for Accelerating Absorption of Donors' Pledges has revealed that the total of donor pledges for Yemen rose by 3 percent to reach $ 8.2 billion during September 2013 - May 2014.
In the latest report of the bureau within its quarterly reports, which Saba got a copy of it, the Bureau pointed out that the new pledges are $ 100 million from Germany, $ 90 million from the United Kingdom, $ 41 million from the U.S., $ 36.5 million from Japan and $ 12 million from Sweden. The bureau confirmed that all the new pledges have been allocated and approved.
The report showed that the accomplishment level of the pledges absorption did not improve during the second quarter of 2014 compared to what was mentioned in the first report (March 2014 ) issued by the bureau.
The second quarterly report of the bureau contained four parts. The first part included the assessment of the progress made in the allocation, approval and disbursement of pledges.
The second part of the report included the assessment of the progress made in the implementation of the policy reforms priorities included in the Mutual Accountability Framework (MAF) between the Yemeni government and donors amounting to 13 priorities until May 2014, while the third part dealt with an overview of the progress made in the implementation of projects financed by donors.
The fourth and last part of the report reviewed the challenges identified by the bureau and its recommendations regarding the future steps.
