In his cable, Hadi voiced confidence that Sisi "would lead Egypt and Egyptian people to more progress and prosperity in the next stage." He also expressed confidence that the rich traditions of brotherly relations between Yemen and Egypt will continue to develop in all areas. "Egypt will practice its role as a prominent power in the region and a safety valve for the Arab world,'' the letter said. Hadi hoped the new leader to make a success in carrying out his tasks in his country, wising him and his people further progress and aspiration. Preliminary results suggest that Al-Sisi has claimed a runaway victory over Nasserist Hamdeen Sabahy, winning 96.88% of the vote. Al-Sisi had been tipped to win the election following popular support he gained since the overthrow of former President Mohamed Morsi last July.
