http://www.english.hadhramaut.info environmental impact of investment project discussed [The Source: www.hadhramaut.info - 28/1/2009] The evaluation results of the Saba Industrial Investment Ltd cement plant were discussed in Mukalla today.   The plant will be constructed in the directorate of Broum at a total area of 454 square kilometers with a production capacity of one million tons of cement a year and a rate of three thousand tons per day.The  cost of construction is estimated at 160 million dollars. A report was presented by Hoof environmental investment office  reviewed all environmental studies on the environmental impact assessment of the plant. The discussion took place in in a workshop which was attended by Hussein Badahia - Director General of the Directorate of Mifa Brom, and Thabet Assaadi - Director of the Office of the Public Authority for the Protection of the environment, and a number of specialists in the health service facilities and environmental associations Federation  in Hadramout coast  .  Engineer Mohammed Rashed Al-Kahlani of Hoof Office said  that the goal of this workshop is to accommodate all the observations and suggestions on the environmental impact of all parties relevant and involving community  in the project in accordance with the environment protection law. He pointed out that the plant, in order to give a thorough assessment to the environmental impact ,has put all potential environmental impacts into consideration during the construction, operation and use of alternative technology and techniques to reduce emissions and the implications of the plant and the development of the occupational safety of workers. Adding that the plant,in its first phase , will provide 500 job opportunities for the local workforce. The Director-General of the Directorate of Broom Maif and general manager of the Office of the Public Authority for the Protection of the Environment Branch of Hadramout stressed that the consultant office must adhere to conduct studies for environmental impact assessment and not to allow any investment project without the consent of Environment Public Authority.
