http://www.english.hadhramaut.info Legal affairs minister meets UNHCR representative [The Source: SANA'A\Hadhramaut\Saba - Friday -18/April/2014] Legal Affairs Minister Mohammed al-Mekhlafi has met here with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) resident representative in Yemen Johannes Van Der Klaauw. During the meeting, Klaauw hailed the affirmative record of Yemen in joining to the United Nations conventions and its positive attitudes towards them, pointing to the great cooperation between Yemen and the UNHCR. He said that Yemen needed to enhance the legal protection for displaced people and refugees through the ratification of the convention relating to the status of stateless persons and the convention on the reduction of statelessness. In return, al-Mekhlafi expressed hope that the meeting will help boost the ongoing cooperation with UNHCR in the legal and human rights protection fields.
