Mohammed Nasser Ahmed met on Saturday at the UN Headquarters in New York City with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Hervé Ladsous. In the meeting, which comes on the sidelines of the visit of the Defense Minister to the United States of America, the UN's official expressed his high appreciation for the contribution of Yemen in peacekeeping operations in Africa and a number of other areas. For his part, the Defense Minister pointed out that a list of the peacekeeping forces had been prepared to organize the mechanism of dispatching and working within the international peacekeeping forces in various areas of armed conflict in the world. He asserted that the leadership of the Yemeni Ministry of Defense oversees the rehabilitation and training of peacekeeping forces through specialized courses in the security skills and foreign languages. The minister reviewed the course of programs and plans to restructure the armed and security forces aiming to modernize military institution and promote the military performance.
