That was in the final match which was a confrontation between Saudi  Arabia and Oman to win the gulf cup champion title.
The hosts completely dominated the first half hour during which the Omanis created a handful of scoring chances. Those worth mentioning were Imaad al Hosni's close range shot, off a fine cross from right Ismail al Ajmi, and two beautifully taken free-kicks by Badr al Maimani though on all three occasions the ball missed the target narrowly. Imaad was also guilty of side-netting the ball with only rival goalie in front of him. The Omanis suffered a jolt in the 30th minute when Al Maimani pulled his muscle and was replaced by Ahmed Hadeed, though the latter, an experienced campaigner that he is, enhanced the team's attacks with an excellent display.
