http://www.english.hadhramaut.info US diplomat: Yemen is not placed under international trusteeship [The Source: SANA'A\English.Hadhramaut\Saba - Monday -03/March/2014 ]  Denying reports by some actors, the chargé d'affaires of the US embassy in Yemen Karen Sasahara confirmed the UN Security Council resolution No. (2140) did not place Yemen under the international trusteeship. At a news conference held in Sana’a, the US diplomat said people should not consider the UNSC resolution puts Yemen under the international trusteeship, pointing out that it stemmed from the outputs of the comprehensive national dialogue conference. Sasahara added that the resolution was an example of the strong support of the international community to Yemen, confirming that Yemen is a sovereign state. In addition, she pointed out that the identification of spoilers, who seek to obstruct or undermine the transition and the NDC’s outputs, will be based on their activities, not according to figures, indicating that the sanctions committee would set up sanctions regime to deter spoilers of Yemen’s political transition. The US diplomat went on to say that President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi will remain in office to complete the transition process and will hand over power to an elected president, adding media are reporting this issue wrongly and provocatively due to a misunderstanding on the implementation mechanism of the GCC-brokered initiative. Sasahara called on everyone to support President Hadi’s efforts to complete the tasks of the transition process as well as ending wars and conflicts in the country which is suffering from security and economic difficulties.
